Cambodia Casinos
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
