Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
